The Muse: Gold Standard

I had a moment of panic when I saw the trend for this week, mainly because I realized a lot of my metallics are winter clothes and shoes (its been cooler this week but I would still either be committed or arrested for solicitation is I wore my silver leather boots outside). When I put this together it occurred to me that I was a little overdressed for my project du jour, which was spray painting new draw handles, but in the afternoon I swapped out my work clothes for the outfit and headed to school to unpack some shipments of supplies that had arrived, and go through the pile of mail that had accumulated over the past month and a half. I didn't go in until 4:30 so I figured I would have the place to myself, but I actually ran into Justin our tech guy (see I knew I put on real clothes for a reason!) and I'm very glad I did because he got a new job and Friday is his last day.It was nice to get a chance to say say goodbye and wish him luck, though I live in great fear what we will do without him when the tech gods decide to punish us! In the world of computer nerds Justin is truly the gold standard, Burrillville is very lucky to have him as their new tech director!
I'm not much for fashion rules, but I admit I don't usually mix my metallics too aggressively. The bracelet was my small concession, mainly because my grandmother brought it back for me when she went to Florida and I left it at work on the last day of school so I've never worn it! Other than that it was gold, gold, gold. Elvis aside, I will admit that the metallic gold can be a bit much, and this is a bit more than I might ordinarily wear.  I like the skirt, but I know its not really the best shape for my body adding a lot of extra volume where I really don't need it. The fact that its metallic also mean your eye goes right there. But then again that's what fashion blogging does, push the limits of possibilities and force you to try things outside your comfort zone. Isn't it exciting?
